The APMSA Executive Committee comprises the following individuals:
APMSA President - ZACKARY B. GANGWER - AZPOD Class of 2011
This person stands as a representative of the APMSA and the profession, subjugating personal opinion and gain for the betterment of the Association. He/She plans and executes the annual APMSA Leadership and Orientation meeting. He/She presides at the semi-annual APMSA House of Delegates meetings. He/She serves as a voting delegate at the annual APMA House of Delegates meeting in Washington, DC and gives a state of the Association address at that meeting representing podiatric medical students across the country.
APMSA President-Elect - ADAM SIEGEL - SCPM Class of 2012
This person is elected by the APMSA House of Delegates at the annual midwinter meeting. He/She assists the President of the APMSA whenever necessary. He/She is the Chair of the Executive Committee and Strategic Planning Committee. He/She serves as the Alternate Delegate at the annual APMA House of Delegates meeting in Washington, DC.
APMSA Director of Development and Corporate Relations - LENA KEESTER- SCPM Class of 2011
This person is appointed by certain members of the APMSA Executive Committee every two years. He/She hosts and runs two APMSA Corporate Advisory Board meetings per year. He/She attends at least one major podiatry conference per year to recruit new corporate advisory companies. This person is an integral member of the APMSA House of Delegates as they work hard to secure corporate support for the financial security of the APMSA. This individual works tirelessly on behalf of all podiatric medical students to gain and continue programs such as the ASICS catalogs, Free CROCS, and other membership programs.
President of the APMSA Presidents' Committee - JAMES TOWNSEND - CSPM Class of 2012
This person chairs the Presidents' Committee which consists of the presidents and president-elects from each of the eight podiatric medical colleges. Members of this committee serve as the main representatives between the APMSA and their school's government. They help to plan and coordinate programs within the individual schools which stem from the APMSA such as the annual Midwinter APMSA House of Delegates meeting held on a rotating basis near each school, the annual APMSA basketball tournament, etc.
APMSA Liaison to the American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine (AACPM) - TRUDY K. SALMON - TUSPM Class of 2012
This liaison is a non-voting member of the AACPM Board of Directors. This liaison attends AACPM meetings whose board consists of members from among the following: Council of the Deans, Council of Teaching Hospitals, Council of Student Affairs Officers, American Podiatric Medical Association. This liaison is a vital link between the students and the colleges. The students must have a voice and an awareness of the actions of the colleges for both beneficial and non-beneficial information. APMSA Liaison to the American Podiatric Medical Association Board of Trustees - DEREK PANTIEL- OCPM Class of 2011
This liaison is a non-voting member of the APMA BOT which consists of the APMA president, president-elect, vice president, treasurer, immediate past president and eight at-large board members. This liaison attends each of the four yearly APMA BOT meetings and gives written and oral reports representing the students perspectives on all issues discussed. This liaison also serves on the APMA Young Members Committee and the APMA Membership Committee.
Executive Director -DOROTHY CAHILL-McDONALD
The Executive Director is employed part-time by the APMSA to manage the financial and operational aspects of the association and to serve as a non-voting member of the Executive Committee. She is an invaluable member of the APMSA and much appreciation goes to her for hard work on behalf of all podiatric medical students across the country.
